Embark on a spectacular 10-day cross-border adventure through the wildest and most remote regions of the Albanian Alps. This extended Peaks of the Balkans route connects Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro via high mountain passes, shepherd trails, and dramatic alpine landscapes.

Starting in Shkodra, the journey leads into the iconic valley of Theth, across the classic Valbona Pass, and onward into the remote borderlands of Çerem and Dobërdol. Summit Gjeravica Peak (2,656 m)  the highest mountain in Kosovo — before crossing into Montenegro through the legendary Three-Border Peak region.

Expect raw mountain terrain, authentic village hospitality, glacial valleys, high passes above 2,000 m, and long but rewarding trekking days. This is a true Balkan wilderness experience designed for strong hikers seeking adventure beyond the ordinary.

  • Day 3 - Theth- Valbona (Trek)

    Trek from Theth to Valbona via the classic mountain pass.
    Arrival in Valbona and check-in at guesthouse.

  • Day 4 – Valbona → Çerem (via Perçlopit Pass)

    Distance: ~18 km
    Time: 7–8 hrs
    Ascent: ↑ 950–1,050 m
    Descent: ↓ 850–900 m

    Difficulty: Hard
    Notes: Limited water after Valbona, early start recommended

  • Day 5 – Çerem → Dobërdol

  • Day 7 – Gacaferi (Kosovo) – Babinopolje Plave-Vuthaj (Montenegro) Via Threborder

    Descent: ↓ 1,500 m-1100 m
    Border crossing: Albania → Kosovo- Montenegro
    Difficulty: Moderate
    Overnight: Guesthouse, Vuthaj (Montenegro)

  • Day 8 – Vusanje (Montenegro) → Theth (Albania)

    Distance: ~20 km
    Time: 7–8 hrs
    Ascent: ↑ 1,050–1,150 m
    Descent: ↓ 900–1,000 m
    Border crossing: Montenegro → Albania
    Difficulty: Hard
    Overnight: Guesthouse, Theth

  • Day 9 – Theth → Bogë → Tirana

    Breakfast at guesthouse.
    Transfer via Bogë toward Tirana.
    Arrival in Tirana Overnight in Tirana.

  • Day 10 – Tirana → Airport

    Transfer to Tirana Airport for departure.
